Kaho - The First village of India in Northeast

About Kaho Village

Kaho is the first village on the India-China border and lies just north of Kibithu on the banks of the Lohit River, it is located in the Anjaw District of Arunachal Pradesh, Northeast India. It is 225 km approx from Tezu. Kaho is inhabited by the Meyor Tribes. There are 12 Meyor households in this village. While entering the village it offers you a breathtaking view of a mountain river, which will take away all your worry. It has a very old Gompa denoting the Buddhist faith practice by the Meyors. Since Kaho is situated in the easternmost part of India, it is a remote area, slowly it is becoming a tourist spot it is an unexplored destination. from Kaho village, there is a viewpoint from where you can have a look at Chinese villages with good housing facilities and paddy fields can be seen. The road is full of adventure, some offroad with breathtaking views of nature. Kaho will bring you close to nature. Give you chance to understand the culture and tradition of local people here. There is no accommadation facility in Kaho Village so you have to stay in Walong.

TEZU

To reach Kaho village first you have to reach Tezu town.
Tezu is one of the oldest town and important district headquaters of Arunachal Pradesh. this land of valley and rivers are the Mishmi tribes. The Mishmi tribes have traditions and customs dating back to the times of Mahabharata. According to sacred Hindu traditions, Lord Krishna's first queen Rukmini was a Mishmi Damsel. The major Mishmi festival is known as Tamladu puja. It is celebrated each year on 15 February. People from all communities and all walks of life are invited to join in the celebrations. There are many attractions to visit in Tezu, including picturesque lakes, religious sites, and a Wildlife sanctuary You can explore Holy Parshuram Kund, is also nearby. HAWAI


After visiting Kaho Village you can visit Hawai. Tezu to Hawai 160km approx.
Hawai is a beautiful township located at a height of 1296 metres above sea level above the roaring Lohit River, the town is connected by a cable suspension bridge popularly known as the Anjaw bridge. The Anjaw bridge at Chequinty on the Lohit connecting Hawai with the main BRTF road is an engineering marvel and the bridge adds to the beauty of the place. T The beautiful scene of the Lohit valley and the commanding height of the township makes Hawai one of the most beautiful places in Arunachal Pradesh.
 

WALONG





To reach Kaho village you have to reach Walong from Hawai. Hawai to walong 51 km approx.
In Mishmi dialect, Walong means ‘a place of Bamboo groves ‘(WA means Bamboo, Long means Place). Walong holds historical significance as it has been the witness to the fight of Indian soldiers against the invasion of Chinese forces in the year 1962. The spectacular natural beauty of the place and the War Memorial at Walong are landmarks of stature Namti Valley, also known as Namti Maidan, is located near Walong and is the place where the fierce battle of 1962 was fought. Walong also houses a grand War Memorial built in honor of the sacrifices of brave Indian soldiers


 

DONG



Now From Walong to Dong, and from Dong next you can reach Kaho village finally.
Dong is a small village, Dong valley is a place that witnesses the first sunrise Dong valley is famous for its breathtaking view and the sunrise. Dong is the best place for Trekking, you have to take a trek to explore the Sunrise. you can get a chance to meet the lost Tribe Meyors. Also you can interact with our pride Indian Army. Dong is less explore a destination so you are free to explore around and connect with nature without any disturbance.

 

Things to do before visiting Arunachal Pradesh


Inner Line Permit For Indian other than a native of Arunachal Pradesh, ILP is required for entering into any part of Arunachal Pradesh, ILP is issued by the designated authorities of the Arunachal Pradesh Government. Protected Area Permit for India The Foreigner (protected area) Act requires foreigners to obtain a Protect Area Permit (PAP) to visit certain areas in India. This requirement is in addition to getting an Indian visa. In order to get this permit, you must meet certain requirements. Such restriction is in place due to security reasons.

 

How to reach:


By Road:

The overall connectivity via road is quite mixed of good and bad roads. So, if you are planning to visit this place via road then it would be a convenient experience for you due to the easily motorable and accessible roadways and highways. from Tinsukia, it is 350km approx, from Dibrugarh 400km. from Jorhat it is 531 km approx via AT Road, From Digboi it is 336km approx via Hayuliang Road, You can Driver your own car or hire a cab/taxi from Tinsukia to Kaho village. bus service available from Tinsukia To Tezu only, but you can reach nearby which is Tezu 230km approx away from Kaho Village.


By Air:

The nearest airport is the Mohanbari Airport situated 370-400 km away. this airport has overall good flight conctivity with cities and towns like Delhi, Guwahati, Kolkata. Once you arrive at the airport, consider booking a taxi online from or some other means of public transport


By Train:

The nearest railway station is the New Tinsukia Junction situated about 350 - 370 km away. Once you deboard at the station, consider booking a taxi online. or use public transport to reach Tezu, then from Tezu, you have to hire a taxi to reach Kaho Village. it's good if you booking a taxi from Tinsukia.
