How To Reach:


By Air: The nearest airport to Daporijo is Lilabari Airport, also Dibrugarh Airport which is approximately 260 kilometers away from the town. From Lilabari, or if you are landing in Dibrugarh, taxis are easily available to reach Daporijo. Dibrugarh Airport, 286 kilometers from Daporijo, can be considered as an option too. By Road: From Dibrugarh, Itanagar, Ziro, and Lilabari, buses and private cabs are easily available to reach Daporijo. Avoid taking Government buses as they are way too overcrowded. You can consider taking private taxis. By Rail: The nearest railway station to Daporijo is Dibrugarh town railway station which is 87 km away. Silapathar Station in Assam, which is 200 kilometers from the main town can be considered as an option too

 

About Daporijo

Daporijo situated 600 meters above sea level in the upper Subansiri district of the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh. Daporijo is typically a good town for understanding local people's culture and tradition experience the local lifestyle, their cuisines also get a chance to see their the art of many handcrafts by the use of bamboo and handlooms. Daporijo is situated in the upper district of the Subansiri River.


This small town is very scenic with the local Tagin, Galo, Hilmiri, tribe inhabiting the place, and the Subansiri providing a great opportunity for river rafting. There are a few caves here that provide a peek into the history of the place. The Tagin tribe are majorly followers of the Donyi-Polo, literally meaning sun-moon. They worship the sun as the female energy and the moon as the male energy. But, recently, parts of this tribe have come under Buddhist influence. They have an annual festival called the Si Donyi festival.
